Castor oil is packed with benefits for the skin, that’s why we have loved using it in our skin care products for so many years!
What is castor oil?
Castor oil is pressed from the seeds of the castor oil plant. This thick, viscous oil is used in balms and moisturisers to create a barrier, protect and soften dry, cracked skin, and reduce skin dehydration. For this reason, castor oil is also used in lip balms, hand balms and baby bottom balms.
The benefits of castor oil
Castor oil is a beautiful, thick, viscous protective oil. It provides a natural, thick liquid emollient shield to the skin. If you have dry, sensitive or damaged skin, castor oil is the perfect ingredient to aid in protecting and replenishing your skin barrier.
We carefully formulate castor oil with specifically selected natural ingredients to create some of our much-loved certified natural and organic skin care products. These include Protect & Repair Balm, Beautiful Baby Bottom Balm, Nourish Lip Balm, Rose Petals Lip Balm and our certified organic Lip Tints.
Protect and Repair Balm
In our Protect and Repair Balm, castor oil is formulated with ingredients such as dragon’s blood, calendula and helichrysum to heal and soothe the skin. In this formulation, castor oil helps guard your skin against dryness and moisture loss, leaving skin feeling soft and smooth. This makes our Protect and Repair Balm ideal for dry, damaged or cracked skin - especially skin that has been exposed to the environment, cold, dry weather conditions, air conditioned environments and for hard working hands and cracked heels. It is suitable for use on your face and body. | |
Fun fact: Protect and Repair Balm is often referred to as a ‘liquid bandage’ as it seals and heals the skin. How to use: You can use Protect and Repair Balm to restore your skin anywhere your skin is in need of rescuing from dryness, dehydration, flaking, cracking, chaffing and damage. |
Baby Bottom Balm
In our certified organic Beautiful Baby Bottom Balm, castor oil is combined with other gentle, skin soothing oils such as chamomile and shea butter. Together, these natural ingredients protect baby's bottom from nappy rash and soothe sensitive, irritated skin. This thick, protective balm is also great for treating extremely dry skin such as elbows and heels. How to use: Apply this balm to any sore, red skin that needs to be soothed and protected. Benefits: This balm improves skin integrity, calms itchiness, soothes irritation and promotes skin healing. |
Lip Tints & Balms
Castor oil is combined with other certified organic ingredients in our luscious certified organic Lip Balms. These include macadamia, avocado and carrot oils along with shea butter and vitamin E to protect and soften your lips. We also use castor oil in our certified organic Lip Tints to soften and smooth your lips while adding a hint of colour. |
*Disclaimer: If you’re thinking of using castor oil for any other health condition, it is really important to consult with your health practitioner to ensure it is suitable for you and your well-being.
