What It Means To Be GMP Certified
We are celebrating! Last month, we passed our annual ISO Audit for the 10th year in a row. This means that our facility and quality system are GMP (Good Manufacturing Practices) Certified. In Australia, being GMP certified is not a legal requirement for cosmetic manufacturers, but we choose to do this so that you can rest assured knowing that our products are manufactured to the highest possible quality standard.

For our facility and quality system to be certified as GMP compliant, we must pass an ISO audit. ISO stands for the International Organisation of Standardisation. There are many ISO Standards out there, but the one we follow is called “ISO 22716 – Good Manufacturing Practices for Cosmetics”. This standard is tailored specifically to the manufacture of cosmetic goods, which is the most appropriate classification for our facility. |
So, what exactly is GMP? Good Manufacturing Practices are a set of principles and procedures that ensure products are manufactured to a high standard of quality. For this standard to be met, quality must be built into each batch of a product during all stages of the manufacturing process. Consistency is crucial when becoming GMP certified, as this helps us control the quality of each product. That’s why our team follow strict protocols when formulating each and every batch.
Note: Our facility and quality system are certified to ISO 22716 by SGS, a well-known Swiss multinational company that provide inspection, verification, testing, and certification services.
Why is this important?
Being GMP certified aligns with our values and demonstrates our commitment to quality, integrity and your well-being. Maintaining this certification requires immense effort but this is a small price to pay to ensure our quality system continues to meet the high standards required to produce our products with such integrity. What makes us GMP certified?
There are many procedures in place to ensure the quality of our products during every stage of manufacturing, such as:
- Each raw ingredient we use undergoes strict quality control testing before it is accepted. We also have product specifications on file for every single ingredient we use.
- Every batch we make is quality tested before it is released. This may include pH, viscosity, organoleptic testing and conducting microbiological tests to ensure our products are free from contamination.
- We keep detailed records for every batch we make, and have complete tracability on every ingredient that we use.
- We run a continuous improvement system. Any feedback we receive is taken seriously, and used as a driver to implement corrective actions which improve our products.
- Our facility has been highly commended by many auditors for its high level of hygeine. All our staff must also follow strict personnel hygiene policies.
