Is your skin is thirsting for love and repair? You’re not alone. Fortunately, there’s good news!

Whether it’s your lips, heels, elbows or complexion, it doesn’t take a miracle to restore your skin from cracked, parched and damaged to velvety-soft and perfectly replenished. We’ve got the lowdown on how to heal and hydrate so you can maintain lusciously healthy skin from head to toe, even amidst the harshness of Winter!

Step 1: Nourish with nutrition

For nourished skin on the outside, start on the inside! Fill your diet with natural, nutrient-rich wholefoods. In particular, opt for foods high in omega 3s and other essential fatty acids. These help keep skin cells strong, supple and full of moisture and elasticity. To get your fix, try snacking on a handful of activated nuts and seeds or add a dash of flaxseed and some slices of avocado to your salads.

Orange and yellow fruits and veges contain high levels of beta-carotene, which helps to protect your skin from pollution and free-radical damage. For a beta-carotene boost, add some roasted or sautéed sweet potatoes, pumpkins and carrots to your dinner plate. You could also indulge in the succulence of apricots, mangoes, mandarins and papaya for snacks or dessert. By stocking up on all nature’s goodies you’re giving yourself the added benefit of crowding out the sugary, processed and preservative-laden foods that tend to age skin and wreak havoc upon our complexion.

Step 2: Turn down the heat

We all know how icy Winter can be and that there's nothing better than a blistering hot shower and cosying up next to the heater with a good book and hot cacao! It feels amazing, but unfortunately, heaters and hot showers aren’t amazing for our skin. They tend to strip your skin of its natural oils and of the barrier it needs to maintain moisture and smoothness, leaving skin desert-dry and easily irritated. Solution? Get all nice and toasty with jumpers and blankets instead and dial down the temperature and the time you spend in the shower.

(Extra tip: Have your Protect and Repair Balm, moisturiser or coconut oil on hand post-shower for a natural moisture boost!)

Step 3: Feed your skin

For beautiful, Winter-proof skin, external nourishment is just as important as internal. For skin protection, repair and regeneration, look to these star performers.

Dragon’s Blood: This ancient beauty secret has long been cherished for its skin-healing properties. When applied, it adds a protective barrier over your skin to shield it from harsh elements and pollution. It also targets current distress by delivering potent antibacterial, antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties into the deepest layers of your skin. What’s more, Dragon’s Blood’s compounds stimulate fibroblast migration, which dramatically accelerates wound healing and the formation of scar tissue. Taken together, these superhero efforts make Dragon’s Blood perfect for skin marred by acne or injury.

Shea Butter: Lusciously indulgent, shea butter is unparalleled in its moisturising abilities. It’s also an extremely rich source of vitamins A & E, which are said to help heal blemishes, fight free-radicals and improve the overall radiance of your skin. It’s perfect if the harsh Winter weather and indoor heating has stripped your skin of its moisture.

Argan Oil: Known as Moroccan gold, argan oil is the superfood of skin care ingredients. This easily absorbed oil megadoses your skin with love and nutrients. It’s rich in vitamins E, A & C, beta-carotene and essential fatty acids which minimise the appearance of scarring and restore texture, elasticity, tone and hydration to your complexion.

Everlasting: Everlasting contains a goldmine of compounds that speed up cellular growth, regenerate skin and accelerate wound healing.

Vitamin E: Vitamin E enhances skin smoothness, improves moisture levels and aids in tissue repair, making it a much-loved ingredient in the world of skin care.

Chamomile: Perfect if your skin is angry and irritated! Chamomile contains the terpenoid bisabolol, which soothes inflammation and irritation, and reduces the appearance of redness.

Sandalwood: A precious addition to skin care preparations, sandalwood helps relieve dryness, itching and dehydration.
