Dive deep into the world of chakras and draw from a deep well of ancient knowledge that can help you create bliss & balance in body, mind, soul & spirit…
According to ancient yogic philosophy, we are all a beautiful amalgamation of vibrational energy. It is said that you, me and everyone else each possess 7 bright, concentrated spirals or ‘wheels’ of energy known as chakras.
Any kind of physical, mental and emotional stress can create imbalance. It is said that when we experience pain or trauma we can hold it tight within our chakras, like a kind of energetic scar tissue. But by working with them we can really release blockages and unleash our potential to live richly, fully & vibrantly!

Your Seven Major Chakras…
Muladhara (Base Chakra)
The Base Chakra, or Muladhara, is the first of our seven major chakras. It’s located at the very base of our spine and is strongly connected to the physical body, earth and our most primitive survival instincts. It is the driving force that urges us to eat, sleep and seek shelter.
When balanced, Muladhara brings a sense of vitality, groundedness and connection. You will generally be more sensible with your money and feel more in touch with nature. If Muladhara is imbalanced to you might notice yourself feeling unsupported, overwhelmed by irrational fears, aggressive, out of touch or insecure.
Balancing your Base Chakra…
To nourish and bring balance to Muladhara, try diffusing, inhaling, massaging and anointing with essential oils that are grounding, strengthening and centring.
If your head is often in the clouds, Balance Blend is filled with grounding oils of patchouli, cedarwood and black pepper to help you balance your Base Chakra, return to your centre and connect with your physical body and surroundings.
Other ways to nourish your Base Chakra include surrounding yourself with the colour red, trusting in the process of life, spending time in nature and eating grounding foods like root vegetables. The mantra for this chakra is Lam and affirmations such as “I am safe and grounded” or “I deserve the best that life has to offer. My needs are always met” are supportive and helpful when focussing on this energy centre.
Our Sacral Chakra is given the Sanskrit name Svadhistana meaning ‘sweetness’, and it is about all things that make life sweet – pleasure, sexuality, creativity, movement, change and emotion. It’s located just below your navel and is concerned with joy, creation, desire and the element water. It’s the chakra that moves us from basic survival to a life that is full, juicy and joyous!
If your sacral centre is balanced you are accepting of your place in life, enthusiastic and have the ability to embrace change and go with the flow!
If it’s imbalanced you might notice feelings of emotional volatility, frigidity, fear or guilt – especially surrounding sexuality.
Balancing your Sacral Chakra…
To harmonise Svadhistana try enlivening essential oils like sandalwood, mandarin, cardamom, ylang ylang, patchouli and jasmine absolute (all of which are in our sensual & soothing Allure Blend – designed for enhancing Sacral Chakra health).
Other ways you can balance Svadhistana are by indulging in a warm aromatic bath, enjoy a massage, wear or surround yourself with the colour orange. Keep gemstones such as citrine and carnelian and dancingis are really healing. The mantra for Svadhistana is Vam and wonderfully helpful affirmations are “I am happy, fulfilled and worthy of love” or “I embrace the ebb and flow of life”.
Our third chakra, or Solar Plexus, is located directly between the navel and the sternum and is given the Sanskrit name Manipura which means ‘lustrous gem’. It is our centre of personal power, self-esteem and ego. This is where those ‘gut feelings’ you may be familiar with arise. The Solar Plexus is a powerhouse chakra. It governs mental awareness and learning as well as the digestion and metabolism of food and life experiences.
When this chakra is balanced it can be described as a sunny centre emitting confidence and humour. If your Solar Plexus Chakra is healthy you make decisions easily & feel alert, optimistic and good humoured! If your energy at Manipura is excessive or deficient you may experience feelings of powerlessness, oversensitivity, indecisiveness or a need to control and manipulate situations.
Balancing your Solar Plexus…
Embrace your power & balance your third chakra with bright, confidence building essential oils of lemon, bergamot, juniper berry & frankincense (the stars in our Harmony Blend which is specially crafted for harmonising the Solar Plexus).
You can also wear or visualise the colour yellow. Step our of your comfort zone and try hula hooping, belly dancing & yoga – they can be really fun ways of working with Manipura. Brain teasers can also work wonders as can diaphragmatic breathing. The mantra for Manipura is Ram and affirmations like “I accept & value myself as I am” and “ I am comfortable in my own power” are also really beautiful ways to work with the energies of Manipura!
Our fourth chakra, Anahata, is located at the heart centre and is associated with the colour green and element air. It is our centre of forgiveness, divine love, compassion, grace, and selflessness. Anahata is the gateway between our lower and upper chakras.
When Anahata is balanced we feel compassionate, nurturing and unconditionally loving. If Anahata energy is deficient or excessive we may tend towards co-dependent behaviour, neediness, coldness or feelings of worthlessness.
Balancing your Heart Chakra…
To balance and harmonise your Heart Chakra try diffusing and anointing with Compassion Blend – a synergy of high vibrational oils like rose absolute, ylang ylang, lavender, may chang, neroli & bergamot, specially designed to help open your heart and encourage unconditional love, compassion and forgiveness.
If you want to heal this energy centre, work on loving and accepting yourself unconditionally. Allow that love and compassion to radiate out to everyone you meet! Spend some time in nature and with animals and loved ones. Practice loving kindness meditation and wear or meditate on colours of green and pink. Carrying gemstones such as aventurine, rose quartz or emerald is also really balancing for Anahata. The mantra for the Heart Chakra is Yam and some beautiful affirmations include “I love and accept myself for who I am” and “I am grateful for all the love that is in my life”.
Our fifth chakra, Vishuddha, is located at the base of the throat. It is our centre of communication, self-expression and creativity. Vishuddha is connected to truth, creative intelligence and the spoken word. It governs the way in which we communicate our needs and requirements, how we speak our truth and how we speak of others as well as the quality of our words. It’s about being true to yourself.
Balance here displays as trust, clear self-expression, artistic inspiration and an ability to live in the present moment with ease. Imbalances can show up as excessive talking or extreme shyness and difficulties expressing yourself clearly. It all depends on whether the energy is abundant or deficient.
Balance your Throat Chakra…
To further balance Vishuddha try singing, engaging in meaningful conversations, speaking your truth, consuming blue foods and wearing or visualising the colour blue. The mantra for Vishuddha is Ham and some lovely Throat Chakra affirmations include… “I always speak my truth” or “It is safe for me to express myself“ (Tip: repeating these out loud is especially helpful).
Our Third Eye Centre is located between the eyebrows and is associated with the colour indigo and element of mind. It has the Sanskrit name Ajna, meaning ‘to know’. Ajna is the chakra of insight, wisdom, intuition and visualisation.
When Ajna is balanced we open ourselves fully to intuition, imagination and clear-sightedness. When imbalanced we can experience confusion, a scattered mind or egoism.
Balance your Third Eye Centre…
Daydream, stargaze and meditate, trust your intuition. Other ways to harmonise Ajna include wearing the colour indigo (or meditating on it) and using amethyst crystals. The Third Eye mantra is Aum and affirmations like “The answers to all my questions lie within me” and “I trust my inner self to guide and protect me” are wonderfully clarifying.
Our seventh chakra is located just above the crown of the head and is linked with the colour violet and the element of thought. Sahasrara, meaning ‘thousand petal lotus’, is the Sanskrit name given to this centre. It is considered one of the highest vibrational centres in the subtle body. Our Crown Chakra is about wisdom, oneness and awareness. It relates to inspiration, kindness, vision, self-knowledge and self-realisation.
When Sahasrara is in harmony you will have a reverence for all of life, and be open to divine energy and wisdom and have a deeper understanding of your life path or purpose. If you have blockages or imbalances at this centre it can manifest as a loss of faith, rigidity or psychical neglect and spaciness.
Balance your Crown Chakra…
Strengthen your Crown Chakra and enhance your spiritual connection with the combination of lavender, frankincense, sandalwood and lime in our Cosmic Blend. Try adding 5-7 drops of Cosmic Blend to your diffuser or add 5 drops to every 10ml of pure vegetable oil to use as a massage oil.
To increase the health of your Crown Chakra look for the divine in everyone and everything, enjoy quiet contemplation – meditate, pray and practice gratitude, write down your dreams, journal and visualise the colour violet. The mantra for Sahasrara is Om and a great affirmation for this centre is “I tune into union with my higher power”.
