The ancient use of healing tonics as natural remedies has principles that are as relevant today as they where hundreds of years ago. This Winter Tonic perfectly captures that warm, sweet and gently spicy wintery taste whilst offering copious therapeutic benefits, making it the perfect winter pick me up.
I created this beverage recipe the day I got off the plane from my recent Melbourne visit for the Creating Calm workshop. It was the first time I had been sick in years and this warming, cleansing & immunity strengthening beverage; along with lots of sleep, sage and lavender essential oil baths completely healed me!
2 cm fresh ginger
3 green apples
1 tsp apple cider vinegar
1 tsp nutmeg powder
1 cinnamon stick
Juice both the ginger and apples. Add the apple-ginger juice and apple cider to a small saucepan and gently heat until warm. Pour this hot and healing remedy into your favourite mug and garnish with a delicate sprinkle of nutmeg, cinnamon or lemongrass powder. Stir and serve with a cinnamon stick.
Cashmere blanky, garden bench, misty morning, wrapping you’re loving hands around your tonic and sipping slowly. After all, it is the slow moments where life happens.
