His book, The Complete Guide to Aromatherapy is now an internationally acclaimed best selling text book for aromatherapists and is used by many natural therapies colleges and aromatherapy training institutions around the world.

Certified Organic
Our commitment begins by sourcing the finest quality certified organic essential oils, herbal extracts, floral waters, vegetable oils, waxes and other plant based ingredients. Certified organic products are not only better for your health and wellbeing, they are better for the environment. The only way you can be sure you are purchasing genuine organic products is to look for the ACO certification logo. When you see the certification number and logo you know that there is a seamless chain of information following every step in the life of the product – from the farm to you.
Organic certification bodies such as ACO have strict regulations and rigorous site audits to ensure we are supplying genuine certified organic essential oils at all times. ACO also maintains conformance with the leading organic standards across the world.

Certified Natural
Perfect Potion is the first Australian company to have obtained certified natural cosmetic status for a majority of its products, from BDIH – Kontrollierte Natur-kosmetik. The BDIH is an international certification organization from Germany that has strict standards for the manufacture of natural cosmetics. Perfect Potion products, production procedures and quality assurance systems have been audited according to ISO 17020 standards.
BDIH certified natural cosmetics are made using raw materials that are natural and organic and that are manufactured to comply with very strict environmental guidelines.

Quality Assurance
Perfect Potion is fully licensed under the Therapeutic Goods Act (License No.100902) as a pharmaceutical manufacturer of essential oils and herbal products. All manufacturing complies with the Therapeutic Goods Administration code of Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP). Perfect Potion is proud to be leading the industry in manufacturing standards and has been commended by industry and the TGA for having one of the most well designed aromatherapy manufacturing facilities in Australia and comprehensive quality assurance systems.

Cruelty Free
All our products are made without any cruelty to animals and are vegetarian, with most being vegan. Perfect Potion is accredited with Choose Cruelty Free Limited an organization that has strict policies to promote cruelty free living.

Environment and community
Our products and packaging are recyclable so as not to pollute our precious environment. Moreover, we will only utilise ingredients that are sustainable and renewable and, where possible, we support indigenous communities and businesses that also support the environment. We have adopted resource and energy efficient practices within our business that have led to a more efficient use of energy, reduced consumption of water and a reduction in waste disposal.

our commitment to wellbeing and sustainability

The acronym LOHAS (lifestyles of health and sustainability) is used in Japan to describe the lifestyle trend that supports complementary therapies, organic food and holistic wellbeing practices that have an emphasis on the environment. As our concerns for global warming and degradation of our environment and wellbeing increases, more and more people are turning to a sustainable lifestyle that is socially and environmentally responsible.

The “Green Goddess” which best describes our customer follows LOHAS principles. The Green Goddess is a socially and environmentally responsible individual who looks for ways of enhancing their health and finding balance in their life, they desire to lead a life that is in harmony with nature. Perfect Potion is dedicated to observing the LOHAS values. Not only do we manufacture natural products that nurture and promote
wellbeing, we only use ecologically sustainable and natural ingredients. For example, we source locally made raw ingredients that help regenerate the environment. Zest Body Polish is made with salt from the Australian Murray-Darling River Basin.
We use an extensive range of certified organic raw materials in our skincare preparations. Certified organic raw materials can be more expensive, however organic farming is done on a smaller scale and utilises farm management practices which do not harm the environment and wildlife. By supporting organics we are securing a better and healthier future for ourselves, our children and our planet. We use raw ingredients that support indigenous communities. Our certified organic coconut oil is sourced from Pacific Island Communities.

This assists the economy of local island communities and encourages local entrepreneurship. LOHAS should also embrace and respect cultural diversity. One way in which Perfect Potion celebrates and embraces the cultural diversity of human kind is through the development of products such as the Peace perfumes – Shanti, Salam, Sohl and Shalom. These exquisite perfumes are created to awaken your senses and infuse your being with the rich and ancient cultures of the Middle East and India – and celebrate the cultural diversity of humanity. LOHAS is still seen as a trend by many people, however as the serious damage to our environment becomes more obvious, LOHAS will become a necessary way of life
for all of us. Perfect Potion is proud to be leading the way in Australia by promoting LOHAS values and LOHAS way of life.

guidelines to certified natural cosmetics

Perfect Potion is proud to be the first Australian company to comply with the strict standards of BDIH - Certified Natural
Cosmetics. Products that bear the BDIH certification logo only use natural raw materials such as plant oils, plant derived waxes, herbal extracts and essential oils and aromatic materials from certified organic biological cultivation or controlled biological wild
collection. In addition we are required to ensure that the raw materials have been prepared in a way that reduces ecological
impact. Perfect Potion meets the strict guidelines set by the BDIH. These guidelines define the concept of natural cosmetics.

No animal testing is permitted
No animal testing may be performed or commissioned when end products are manufactured, developed or tested. It is also strictly prohibited to use raw materials obtained from dead vertebrates.

Raw materials obtained from minerals
The use of inorganic salts and raw materials obtained from minerals is generally permitted, except for raw materials such as organic-synthetic dyes, synthetic fragrances, ethoxylated raw
materials, silicones, paraffin and other petroleum products.

commonly asked questions

Q. What is the difference between natural and organic?
A. “Natural” means that the ingredients are plant derived, while “organic” means that the plants have been cultivated in a very special manner in which no fertilisers or synthetics pesticides have been used. Natural only means that the ingreidents are plant derived.

Q. I thought that only food could be certified organic – how is it possible for cosmetics to be certified organic?
A. Australian Certified Organic (ACO) is Australia’s largest certifier of organic and biodynamic produce in Australia. Most organic certification associations were initially set up to certify food. However the demand for quality organic products has seen strict standards extended to the production of processed organic products other than food. The same standards that apply to food apply to the cultivation of certified organic raw materials for cosmetics and for the final cosmetic products. For a cosmetic product to be “certified organic” and to have the ACO logo it is required to have a minimum of 95% certified organic ingredients.

Q. Why is organic better?
A. Grown naturally, the way nature intended, organic products and products containing organic ingredients are better than nonorganic
equivalents. Organic farming is a system of agriculture that works with nature rather than against it. Organic farming means that the plants are grown naturally and in harmony with nature. This equates to rich healthy nutritious soil which in turn encourages healthy vibrant plants and from these plants, farmers are able to obtain the purest and finest certified organic materials.

Q. Many cosmetic companies claim that their products are organic what makes perfect potion so special?
A. The only way to be sure you are purchasing genuine organic products is to look for the ACO certification logo. When you see a certification number and logo you know that there is a seamless chain of information following every step in the life of that product – from the farm to you. Organic certification bodies such as ACO have strict regulations and rigorous site audits to ensure we are supplying consistent quality certified organic ingredients at all times. ACO also maintains conformance with leading organic standards across the world.

Q. What is the difference between certified natural products and all the other cosmetic products on the market that claim to be natural?
A. Until recently there has never been a standard for defining natural cosmetics. Many products marketed as “natural” often contain one or two naturally derived ingredients, and on the basis of this, the product is promoted as natural. The reality is that the product is nothing more than a cocktail of synthetic and petrochemical ingredients with one or two natural ingredients. At Perfect Potion we are passionate about the integrity of the natural preparations we make. Therefore we decided it was important for us to obtain “certified natural” status for our products. We found that BDIH offered the most comprehensive standard for genuine natural cosmetic products. The BDIH is an internationally recognized organisation from Germany that has very strict standards for the manufacture of natural cosmetics. Not only does the BDIH insist that only natural ingredients be used, it has strict guidelines for the way in which the natural ingredients are processed. Only products that bear the BDIH seal can be assured to be genuinely natural cosmetics.

Q. Not all perfect potion products are certified natural – why is this?
A. Perfect Potion has an extensive range of natural products such as pure essential oils, herbal teas, body and skincare preparations, aromatherapy perfumes and DIY products. The BDIH certification is only for cosmetic products. Hence it is only possible for our skincare range and body care range to be BDIH certified natural. For example, it is obvious that essential oils are natural, however because they are not classified as cosmetics they cannot be certified natural by BDIH. Many of our other products are therapeutic products licensed with the Therapeutic Goods administration (TGA) and/or certified organic (ACO).

Q. If I have no problems with my current skincare regime, why should I use perfect potion?
A. The skincare products that you use are a personal choice. Perfect Potion skincare preparations have been developed with a commitment to promote wellbeing and respect the environment.
Perfect Potion’s certified natural skin care preparations utilise only pure plant extracts and certified organic essential oils. Not
only are Perfect Potion products better for your wellbeing they are better for the environment.
